RATIONALE

Conflict is part of life and it occurs in family, social circles, workplaces etc. It happens when the goals, values, needs and wants of two or more people are at variance. If left unresolved, conflict can cause long term damage at the workplace resulting in relationship breakdown between workers and management which is often characterised by disagreements leading to shutdown of operations, loss of productive time and the consequent loss of revenue.

This workshop is designed to educate management, workers and trade union officials with the knowledge and skills to manage industrial relations activities competently.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Settle workplace conflict and quickly restore harmony
  • Use reason and logic, rather than anger and emotion, when handling conflict
  • Look at situation with a broader mind;
  • Handle conflict with a calm and fair approach;
  • Understand different types of conflicts and how to handle them;
